On Saturday 9th June, at 7.30pm in St Thomas’, Nicolas Fink directs a programme of Sacred music with Chamber Choir Ireland, reflecting on the very personal relationships each of the composers had with their own faith and how they expressed that in the individual works. Reger’s work deeply rooted in the protestant tradition with the composer’s trademark of taking the harmonic development to the extreme, Rheinberger’s almost childlike faith, having composed Abendlied at the tender age of 15, and Martin expressing his strongly held faith in almost symphonic proportions.
